Any helicopter lifting an external load greater than 1.8 tonnes is generally classified as heavy lift. The UH60 A Black Hawk is approved for 3.6 tonnes externally. Currently in New Zealand the Black Hawk lifts double what any other commercial helicopter type can. It also has exceptional single engine performance in the event the Black Hawk lost an engine.
